KindHealth Insurance Platform

My Role
UX Designer
Timeline
Mar 2021-Aug 2022

Background

KindHealth is a health insurance platform dedicated to simplifying the process of purchasing health insurance for individuals who cannot obtain it through their employers. In January 2022, KindHealth transitioned from a live agent model to a fully digital experience powered by artificial intelligence.

Initial Challenges

  • Ambiguous requirements due to unclear direction from leadership
  • Conflicting demands from key stakeholders, requiring simultaneous focus on multiple tasks
  • High turnover and low morale among the team by the time I left

Highlights

Solution 1: Mobile Health Insurance Quiz Concept
The following mobile screens represent conceptual designs for a health insurance quiz, allowing users to receive personalized health insurance recommendations.

Solution 2: Dashboard Concept
This design concept showcased a personalized dashboard that users would see after providing the necessary data to the recommendation engine. The business favored the dashboard concept, anticipating that financially-minded users would appreciate visualizing the financial benefits of specific plans, such as pairing an HSA with Accident Insurance. However, due to time constraints, I was unable to design a mobile-responsive version.

Final Thoughts

While I enjoyed working with my colleagues, my time at KindHealth was challenging, primarily due to the constantly shifting requirements from the business. Although the designs were generally aesthetically pleasing, I would have liked to see greater alignment across the company with a unified vision that could inspire excitement and enthusiasm.
